Brad first met Mrs. Shula Jones at the Brighton Field Day Festival as she was sitting in her booth selling the exquisite patchwork clothing she sewed, the dolls she crafted, and beaded jewelry she made. She spoke her native Creek language and would relay her thoughts to her daughters to share with Brad once she recognized him and remembered his granddaddy inviting her and other members of the Brighton community to pick sweetgrass at the family’s ranch. Brad and his family purchased numerous dolls and clothing from Mrs. Shula prior to her passing, and became close friends with her family. Brad created this scene to honor her memory.
